1/31 Class

Today in class we were watching the same video that was called guns, germs and steel. Today we learned about the 14 domesticated animals that consisted of pigs, cows, camels and more. Also out of the 14 animals one of the animals lived somewhere beside Asia, Europe and Northern Africa was the llama that was originated in South America. The most developed part in the world thousands of years ago was the middle east because it had almost all the domesticated animals and it had a big advantage in technology by using animals instead of men farming. Also that gave them food and hyde for warmth and food. If they wanted clothing they could just trade for what ever they want with these animals.

1/125 Class

Today we came in and we answered some answers from the video and then Mr.Schick surprised us with a pop quiz that had questions like what answer did not belong. Also in one of the questions it asked what are the tree things that all successful groups have in common. Which are Advanced Technology, large populations and well organized work force. Also I learned that cargo means for people in Papua New Guinea basic materials. People in Papua New Guinea were amazed when they see things that Jared Diamond brings  binoculars they were amazed. Also today was good for people who did not do there blog because he gave those people a chance and if you already did we are allowed to do this blog in class.

Guns, Germs and Steel

Today we watched most of this video called Guns, Germs and Steel. It was about a guy named Jared Diamond who was a Biologists, author, professor at UCLA and who study's birds. Diamond was in Papua New Guinea and was in a boat with the locals looking for birds. He said that people have been living there for 40,000 years longer than the US. But they still live the same way 40,000 years ago with less cargo. All civilizations there were great like the Greeks and Romans have something in common which is they had advanced technology, large populations and well organized work force. In the middle east 13,000 years ago everybody lived as a hunter and gatherer which means they are only focused on getting food. These people will live in a place were animals are for weeks and even months and then move with the animals. One of the first civilizations was Draa and archaeologists believe they had a granary which they stored mostly parsley and wheat.

First Day

Today in class we learned that we will be making blogs after every class that have to be at least 150 words. Also we learned that you can not play video games on our computers or we will get a detention. In this class we will be learning about the Romans, Greeks, Mesopotamia and the Renaissance. We will be able to use our blog on some test only if Mr. Schick agrees. We will have to get a notebook for us to take notes so we can write on our blog. There will be a total of 90 blogs and they are two points each and at the end of the year it will be 180 points and if you don't do a lot of them it will tank your name and go down a letter grade if you do about half of the blogs.
