3/27 Class
Today in class we worked on our project. We are presenting tomorrow and I believe we will do great because we have done everything and we will get an A on this. We made videos of me and Ben doing the events and we mostly failed them because my discus throw was like a baseball throw, Bens javelin throw was disgusting and Bens jump was really bad. But we have note cards and we state a lot of facts that are useful and I really don't want to present but I also kind of want to because I know we will do good and it is an easy topic.

3/26 Class
In class today we worked on our project and we are presenting on Thursday and we are the third group. But we are pretty much done we just have to figure out who is sayin what. But Greece Olympics is interesting because the events they did is pretty much what we do now like the discus and javelin throw. But the Olympics have defintley evolved over the years from just playing in one stadium and now multiple and multiple events at the same time. And now most countries are in this instead of when they first started you had to be born and Greece and be Greek. And people now train there whole life to just win there compation which before they would just go out and do whatever there supposed to do.

3/22 Class
Today in class we took a test. The test was easy besides the map because there was like ten questions on the map and I know I got at least two right. But beside that the test was some what easy and I feel I got a B on it not an A because of the map. But we learned that Mr.Schick wen to the doctor and the doctor was Mycenian and the guy said he was related to Alexander the Great and so is everybody else that lives in Mycenia. Also on the test there was no question on the Homeric question and about Greek mythology and the Gods and goddesses.

3/21 Class
Today in class we learned about Greece. Cleisthenes and Democrace made poor and middle class people feel special by letting them have a voice by letting them talk about laws they want and laws they want to get rid of. A new form of government allowed the people to be more involved and letting them have a voice. A direct Democracy looks like a majority rule which the United States government has where there are one hundred senators and if it is a tie the vice president makes the decision. The agora is were the citizens could speak out about what they want and they had stones which were white and black and the white means yes and the black means no. Gods and goddesses they had mythological creatures that would interact with humans, Zeus was the King and was the king of weather, thunder, lighting, sky and law. Athena was berthed from Zeus's forehead and she is the god of wisdom, skill, war, peace, intelligence and battle strategy.
3/20 Class
Today in class we learned more about Greece. Draco (621 BCE) and all Athenians are equal under law, death is the punishment for many crimes, debt slavery is okay so when they couldn't be there debt they would be a slave till they could. Solon's (594 BCE) outlaws debt slavery, all Athenian citizens can speak at an assembly so they would argue what laws that should have or not and then the laws would be laws, all citizens can press charges against wrongdoers. Cleisthenes(around 500 BCE), allowed citizens to submit laws for debate and assembly, created council of 500 and members were chosen randomly, only free adult male property owners born in Athens. Hippias- a tyrant ruled from 527-510 BCE, brother was murdered, eventually was expelled from Athens, began working with Persian king Darius 1 by helping him invade Marathon.

3/18 Class
Today in class we worked on our project. I am doing the ancient Greek Olympics. On Sunday Ben and we took videos of us doing the javelin, running, long jump and the discus throw. A fun fact in all the events they did ( running, boxing, chariot racing, long jump, javelin, discus, pankration and wrestling) they did it naked except the chariot racing. For our project we are going to state facts about why the Olympics started and when it started. My favorite event is probably the discus throwing because you are just seeing how far you can throw a rock but we did a frisbee and it was hard to throw it because the frisbee I got at the dollar tree. Anyway the Olympics are a thing that brings the world together by nations having fun and them playing sports that they have trained for four years. But for some nations including the United States it is very, very competitive.

3/12 Class
Today we learned more about Greece. twenty percent of Greece is suitable for farming because most of Greece is mountains. Diets consist of grains, grapes, olives and fish. Temperature was forties in the winter and low eighties in the summer was pretty nice year-round. There weather was better back during there time then it is now I'm not sure what but I think it is because of climate change. Mycenae is on a rocky ridge on Pelponmeus that was protected by a twenty foot wall were enimies could not invade them even if they tried. in 1400 BCE Mycenae's invaded Crete and absorbed the Minoan culture. Around 1200 BCE the mysterious " sea people" began to invade Mycenae and they burnt the palace. Dorians are far less advanced, trade- based economy collapsed and the culture was on a decline. Greeks fought in many wars. Trojan war started in 1200 BCE. Pysidian was angry at Homer so he sent a lot of storms to throw him off course and send him on different islands. His wife was at home still having faith in him and didn't go with any other man and then he came home to his wife.

3/11 Class
Today in class we learned that Greece was basically right in the middle of the Medditerian sea. There are 2,000 islands there and most of them are Greece's. Greece ruled almost all of the Mediterian. Greece was also popular because they grew and used olive oil which nobody had so they got attention and they traded a lot but it was hard to transport it because Greece was three fourth mountains. And with a horse and buggy up a mountain is pretty hard so they went in the sea. But all of those islands it was very hard to navigate around them so either way it was hard to transport olive oil and other goods. The Greeks had there own mythology were Zeus was the king and lived on Mount Olympus were Hera was his wife and Athena was his daughter who was the protecter of the cities like Athens and other big cities around Greece.

3/7 Class
Classical Greece. The city state or capital is Athens. Government is a democracy. Alexander the Great spread culture through Asia, Greece, Egypt to make a Hellenistic culture was a great idea because I believe he would of counquered the intire world if is wasn't for him dying. Alexander the Great captured the Persian empire. They speaked Greece. 3000 BC Minoans lived in Crete. Minoans had elegant civilizations that had power in the Mediterrian Sea. 2000 islands in the Aegean and Ionian seas. Regions physical geography shaped Greek traditions and customs. The sea shaped the Greek civilization. Greece was always 85 miles or less from and body of water but mostly the sea. Sea travel and trade became very important because they lacked natural resources such as timber, metal and farmland.

3/5 Class
Today in class we reviewed for our test this is what we learned. When a person was a mummified they would put salt over the body and let it sit out for fourty days so all the moisture would go away. Then they would put two coats of something that was like glue and then wrap the body three to four times. And put hieroglyphics on the body that would say your name and other things for life. We leaned that pyramids were stone tombs that would have the pharaohs bodies in them and they would be stored there forever. Also they were covered in marble and in the muslim conquest it was stripped off. But I have a question did the pharaoh or pharaohs during the time were they were building the pyramid were did they store the bodies did they store them in the pyramid that was not finished. Or did they store there somewhere else.

3/4 Class
Today in class we took notes on Egypt. We learned that there will be a quiz tomorrow. Upper Egypt is 500 miles long and is mostly montains. Lower Egypt is a wide land of the Nile delta and then goes into the Mediteranian sea. The Nile provides life to humans. 3100 BC the two lands of Lower and upper Egypt united by king Narmer ( Pharaoh Narmer). The Pharaoh's were worshipped as God's and people thought that they were connected to the other major god's that were also Pharaoh's at one time. Egyptians relied on harmony and balance of the universe and that was called a maat. Pharaoh's had multiple wives at one time and the financial and social successes were through the palce and not through the community/ people. Also had a conversation abouhow the world is not flat because no offense you need mental help if you think the Earth is flat because there is cameras in space that can take pictures of the Earth and you will see that is round.
